Mental Detox

June 10, 2017

Hi! It feels great to be back here and writing again. Last week I did a major mental detox, because lately I've been feeling a bit stuck up and unmotivated to do anything. No inspirations were coming into my head and being at home all day made me feel down in the dumps.

On the weekend, I went on a vacation out of the city with my friends to regroup and eat to our heart's content! It was a nice vacation and a much needed break for us.

When I came back, I was feeling immensely better and ready to dive into my daily routine again. I swore to myself not to open netflix for awhile and focus on other projects. I also made time for myself, spent a night in my own company enjoying a drink at a coffee shop and watched a movie at the theater.

There's something calming about making time for yourself and being alone, stuck between the crowd, well at least for me there is. I just might be addicted to the feeling actually, haha.
I feel like although I'm alone in my own company, I could feel the energy of the people around me.
I  had time to listen to myself, understand the things I'm feeling, what they are trying to tell me,and also observe how people live their lives, pursuing their goals, doing their routine. These are the things that is pretty hard to do when you are with someone else, trying to match their pace and sync your thoughts with theirs.

I also immersed myself in DIY projects. I cooked some food, as usual (but no pics though because I just made some ordinary pasta that I'm sure you all have seen a thousand times)

Lately, I've been obsessed with the spa-at-home concept and making my own natural skin care. I bought some stuff online to start this project.
The first product I made were some bath soaks. Here's a pic of it:

It's a soothing rose bath soak I made with some salts (Epsom salts, Dead sea salt, Himalayan pink salt) and added a rose fragrance plus some rose petals from a rose I bought the other day. It smelled really nice and soothing. I've always loved the smell of roses so I'm really happy of how this turned out.

I also made some soaps, like this rose scented activated charcoal soap which has detoxifying properties due to the activated charcoal in the soap:

Found a cute frog shaped mold for the soap!
In conclusion, this past week has been my attempt on de-stressing and just clearing up my mind.

So, what's your method of de-stressing and clearing out your thoughts?
